South West and Wales Riding Club Championships 2021

Updated: Mar 7, 2023

On the 21st August 2021 we saw two teams head off to Hartpury to compete in the South Wales and West of England riding club championships. We were delighted to see Naomi Kaye and Jazz, Kelly Logan and Fred, Jayne Harman and Bam Bam, Jo Kempton and Cupid and Jane Hill and Bruno, jump and dance their way whilst representing the club.

The show jumping saw us finish 10th overall with the team picking up an unfortunate 23 penalties leaving the team on a score of 168.48! The course was up to height and a tricky challenge as well as being indoors.

Our dressage team danced their way to 12th overall with the team finishing on 265 and an individual 7th place for Kelly and Fred. It was certainly a long day for Jayne, Naomi and Kelly who rode in both teams, it most certainly took its toll. Except for Jayne’s unplanted dismount, no riders made no flying attempts without their four legged friends, it was clear everyone enjoyed themselves, but Fred, Bam Bam and Jazz were very pleased to be home.

A massive well done and thank you to Abi Clifton who was our clubs nominated volunteer. Abi helped in the SJ warmup whilst being a great support to the team on the ground of course a great photographer.

As the teams coordinator I’m extremely proud of everyone who rides at these events, but to get to the Championship with it not one but 2 teams is very exciting and I can’t wait to get teams back out at the upcoming area qualifiers in dressage, SJ and arena eventing as the area qualifiers kick off In November.
