Meet your committee

Hilary Lewis
Chairman
I have been a member or on the committee (in a variety of roles) of Brent Knoll for the last 25 years, it may be more! I’ve always enjoyed the club and seen it progress over the years.
I now have 2 horses Tom my homebred who’s 22 and Flora my brothers ex racehorse. Flora and I do a bit of dressage, and showing being successful at the North Somerset show. I work in the Paediatric intensive care unit at Bristol children’s hospital and having retired and returned part time I feel I have time to help the committee.
I look forward to meeting new and old members.

I am returning to the BKRC committee after a few years away as I feel it is important to put something back into the local equine community that I get so much enjoyment from
I enjoy showing and dressage with my maxi cob Hugo and in hand showing with my Exmoor pony Lily!
If I am not at a show or training session I can be found at home tending to my growing collection of rare breed animals!!!!
I look forward to meeting you all at a Riding Club event soon

I moved to Somerset in 2015 and joined BKRC at the beginning of 2017. I was looking for a nice friendly club and one that would let all members join in and enter team events. BKRC were so friendly and I have already had a lot of fun - including trips to:
~ Lincoln for the BRC National Team Dressage Champs in 2017,
~ SWWRC Champs at Hartpury in 2019 with the BKRC Dressage team
~ SWWRC Champs with the BKRC team for Jumping and Dressage in 2021 where Freddie danced his way to individual 7th.
~ SWWRC Champs in 2023 with the BKRC SJ Team
~ Arena UK, Grantham for the BRC Nationals Show Jumping Winter finals 2025 with the SJ team.
Perhaps the best thing to come from joining the club, was that I met Freddie, who I bought in Jan 2018. He’s such a little dude and we have represented the club in show jumping, dressage and also at the horse trials.

After some time riding and competing up in Nottingham, being a keen eventer for many years, I moved home and joined BKRC. The relatively small (at the time) club was so welcoming and friendly and now, a few years down the line, I find myself still on the committee having made some super friends and having shared many laughs.
My new role is "socials and non riding activities" so I hope to provide some fun and games that the whole club can enjoy even in the deepest, darkest depths of winter! As a veterinary professional, I am quite nerdy and really enjoy the science behind our horses so plenty of talks and demos are on the cards as well as arranging social get togethers, bbqs, trips to horsey events and team merchandise.
I love riding, my main horse being "Gerry" an ISH rehab case with severe KS. I also have a 3yo Lusitano mare who I hope to eventually compete in dressage and working equitation. In my spare time, you'll find me riding, walking my dogs or watching the football!
I can't wait to meet all the new members we acquire every year and look forward to supporting all our members and celebrating their successes. Any ideas on non riding activities, do let me know!
